This is what I found when checking on naptime...Look closely to your left...even Kali Kat got all snuggly :)
Synchronized thumb-sucking...a new event in the Baby Olympics?
Now, for some cool finds I snagged thrifting....gotta love the Salvation Army, especially down in the Florida Keys...a lot of rich retirees just give away name-brand clothing with the tags still on...there is a great one down in the lower Keys...the clothes are color coordinated, the place is spaceous and it doesn't smell like cabbage at all. I love second hand shops, consignment shops, etc. The times spent wandering around, waiting for something to 'find' me is peaceful, almost zen-like to me. I don't get the opportunity lately, with a lively toddler and baby...but Hubs had Rodeo, so I took my chance...I felt the sirens calling..."Come, there is a beige crop top that will match your skirt waaaaiiting for yoooouuu...." So off I went baby in tow...and here's what I found (or what found me...)
This is just so feminine and not something I would have chosen pre-baby, but I have softened since then, and I no longer am in need of my 'bartender' clothes...can't really wear my leather pants to Publix :) The brand is Stamp (not familiar with this...but I like it!)
It's also quite slimming, as I am still carrying some excess mama-belly weight...
Not too shabby!! It is a linen fabric...and will get it's use down here in "Endless Summer" Land.
Next...this lovely skirt from Express, it reminds me of my SIL, very holistic/earthy-artsy/sleek...I still need to lose my mama-belly to wear it right tho....
and this great wrap top by Liz Clairborne...
And the beige top that called to me this morning....
Not the best picture, but it is a washed silk material and is gorgeous!!
A better pic...
Again, I feel so elegant and feminine in this, and it does match the skirt I had...pics to follow.
Then I was off to the children's section, looking for books...
This has been a hit with Rodeo...he walked around all day and made Hubs read it twice before bed (and once again with Mommy - "Last time, mommy")
I think I had this as a child, because I got all sentimental and mushy when I found it...like a much-needed reunion with a long lost friend..
I need to post this on the fridge as a gentle reminder...
Me, bluster? Nevah!! :)
then, another find...
Although I have dregded up many nursery rhymes from the depths of my childhood psyche...readhing through the book I found soo many long-forgotton favorites...
My mom used to call me the following...
I was Lucy Locket :) I also was the Girl with the Curl...but we'll not get into that....
Now, for my coup!! Hidden in the board-book/toddler shelves, a title caught my eye, "Making Pearls". I was intrigued...and when I pulled it from the books, I was happily surprised to find it a book about Watercolor painting by one of my most favorite artists
, Jeanne Carbonetti...I would love to take a workshop from her some time in the future, someday...I have one of previous books, "Zen of Creative Painting"...so this was serendipitous and a sign from the Universe to PAINT (DO Something Creative again Woman!!)
Just a peek inside....
Okay, just one more....
Ahhh, my parched soul is replenished...and I am inspired...now where have I stashed my watercolors? No really...I have relegated them to my 'art room' which has sadly become a storehouse for Rodeo's yard toys (yes, Calliope weeps for her lost daughter)
Overall, a mighty good thrifting!!
